She joined the RSC in 2014 and previously worked as Publishing Editor and then Deputy Editor for the journals Soft Matter, Polymer Chemistry, Biomaterials Science, Reaction Chemistry & Engineering, and MSDE.
She holds a master's degree in chemistry and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath, where she studied H₂, CO₂, and N₂ adsorption in metal-organic frameworks. After leaving Bath she completed a postdoc at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, before leaving research to begin a career in publishing.
She is also an advocate for improving inclusion and diversity in publishing and worked on updating the RSC’s author name changes policy, as well as acting as an inclusion and diversity representative within the organisation. She also has a keen interest in publishing ethics, having played a major role in the RSC’s paper mills investigation during 2020.

Dr Donna Arnold, University of Kent, United Kingdom

Dr Donna Arnold is Senior Lecturer in Chemistry and Forensic Science at the University of Kent. Her PhD, undertaken at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, focussed on the structure and electronic properties of porous manganese oxides. She has since worked at the Foundation for Research and Technology in Crete and undertaken postdoctoral research at the University of St Andrews. Her research on functional nanomaterials at University College Cork earned her national recognition for her role in the design of the first patterned substrates manufactured by Intel to meet key research needs.
